Cervical Cancer Screening Program
Women between the ages of 30 and 60 receive an invitation every 5 years for the National Cervical Cancer Screening Program. Cervical cancer can be detected at an early stage using a vaginal smear, at which point it is often still treatable.
Pap Smear screening does not necessarily have to be done at the GP's office. If you do not have vaginal symptoms such as spotting, contact bleeding, or changes in excretion, you can nowadays take a smear at home using a self-test.
We therefore ask you, only in case of no symptoms, to perform the self-test at home. The invitation letter explains how you can request a test kit. If you have received an invitation but do have specific symptoms, please contact the practice.
You can find more information about cervical cancer and screening on the website of Bevolkingsonderzoek Nederland.
