M.A.C. van Hoof - Geenen

Working in healthcare and meaning something for others is something I wanted to do since I was young. The choice to become a doctor was quickly made but, unfortunately, I was unable to secure a placement to study Medicine in the Netherlands. That was my reason to study Medicine in Leuven, Belgium, after which I could take my practical training from Leiden University.  After having worked as a physician assistant in gynaecology at the Reinier de Graaf Gasthuis in Delft, it became clear to me that my real calling was to be a GP. The aspects that appeal to me most in my profession as a GP are the personal, intensive contacts and the follow-up of patients of all ages, and the diversity in medical problems. I want to be able to use my medical and professional knowledge in the broadest sense without being restricted to one specialist area.  I do have some special interests within the various disciplines; gynaecology including making ultrasounds for gynaecological purposes, internal medicine, and dermatology.

I have been working as a GP since 2006, and in 2015 I also started to train other medical students who want to specialise as GPs, something I enjoy doing very much. I do this in collaboration with my experienced colleague Dr. Feenstra. It is wonderful to share knowledge and to make young doctors enthusiastic about our work.

I have 2 children, which is why I work part-time, on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
